چکیده

Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) can have a profound impact on the interplanetary medium and the near-earth environment. We discuss the feasibility of detecting coronal mass ejections at radio wavelengths with a groundbased instrument. In particular, we explore the possibility that a radio telescope employing Fourier synthesis imaging techniques can detect thermal bremsstrahlung emission from CMEs. Using a simulated data base from such a telescope, we explore three detection schemes: direct detection, an approximate di erential detection scheme, and an \exact" di erential detection scheme. We conclude that thermal bremsstrahlung emission from CMEs can be detected by such a telescope provided di erential techniques are employed. While the approximate di erential detection scheme may be su cient for CMEs viewed near the solar limb, detection of CMEs against the solar disk may require the more sensitive exact di erential scheme. The detection and imaging of nonthermal radio emissions from CMEs is also discussed.

Solar Mini-Dimming Kinematics and Their Positive Correlations with Coronal Mass Ejections and Prominence

Solar mini-dimmings can be detect in the Extreme Ultra-Violet coronal eruptions. Here, sequences of 171_A images taken by Solar Dynamic Observatory/Atmospheric Imaging Assembaly on 13 June 2010 are used. In this special day, both of coronal mass ejection and prominence were observed. The average velocities and accelerations of 500 mini-dimmings which were detected using on feature based classif...

Sixty-five years of solar radioastronomy: flares, coronal mass ejections and Sun–Earth connection

This paper will review the input of 65years of radio observations to our understanding of solar and solar–terrestrial physics. It is focussed on the radio observations of phenomena linked to solar activity in the period going from the first discovery of the radio emissions to present days. We shall present first an overview of solar radio physics focussed on the activeSun andon the premices of ...

Coronal Mass Ejections: Initiation and Detection

Coronal mass ejections (CMEs) are large-scale magnetic structures expelled from the Sun due to MHD processes involving interaction between plasma and magnetic field in closed flux regions. I provide a summary of the observational signatures and current models on CME initiation. CMEs are traditionally observed using white light coronagraphs. I also provide a summary of various signatures of CMEs...

Shock-related radio emission during coronal mass ejection lift-off? (Research Note)

Aims. We identify the source of fast-drifting decimetric–metric radio emission that is sometimes observed prior to the so-called flare continuum emission. Fast-drift structures and continuum bursts are also observed in association with coronal mass ejections (CMEs), not only flares. Methods. We analyse radio spectral features and images acquired at radio, Hα, EUV, and soft X-ray wavelengths, du...

The Relation between EIT Waves and Coronal Mass Ejections

More and more evidence indicates that “EIT waves” are strongly related to coronal mass ejections (CMEs). However, it is still not clear how the two phenomena are related to each other. We investigate a CME event on 1997 September 9, which was well observed by both EUV imaging telescope (EIT) and the high-cadence MK3 coronagraph at Mauna Loa Solar Observatory, and compare the spatial relation be...
